I love building things—whether it’s Legos, software, or this web site, I enjoy creating and seeing the results of my work. That passion for making and refining is what led me to engineering—and what draws me to photography.
As a 1.5-generation immigrant from Hong Kong, I was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and went on to earn a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from U.C. Berkeley and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from U.C. Davis. My early work in peer-to-peer content distribution earned me a U.S. patent (#US-6473401-B1). Over the course of my career, I’ve worn many hats—moving between startups and multinational corporations across Silicon Valley. I’ve built labs from the ground up, led development, validation, DevOps, release engineering, and legal compliance efforts. Throughout it all, I’ve remained deeply hands-on—leading by example and staying in the trenches.
Photography pulls me away from the screen, takes me to new places, and introduces me to people I wouldn’t otherwise meet. It even gives me an excuse to tinker with fun side coding projects. I love the way it blends technical precision with creativity.
Over the years, I’ve gone from hearing, “Hey, Keith, that’s a nice photo!” to “Hey, Keith, that’s an amazing shot—can I buy a print?” Enough of those moments made me realize something: my photography isn’t just a passion. It’s something people genuinely value.
So here I am, open for business.
